Richelle Ignatius

Third Year Student, BSc (Honours) Kinesiology, School of Kinesiology and Health Studies, Queen’s University

I am a third-year undergraduate student specializing in Kinesiology here at Queen’s University. I am from Markham, ON and when I’m not at my desk, I’m either reading or at the gym. My interests include racial and health equity and how environments can impact daily activities like physical activity. I hope to write a health-related thesis next year and move on to pursue graduate studies in health equity.

I joined the CEHE lab this year to learn more about health policy and the affect of social determinants of health on physical activity and health equity. I am an intern this year working on the Playground Project under the supervision of Dr. Jeff Masuda. The Playground Project aims to look at where playground deserts are located in Kingston and how different factors affect physical activity in children. I’m looking forward to further understanding the research process and hope to gain more knowledge in ethics, interviewing and data analysis.
